At Pediatric Dentistry of Columbus, we are all about making your child’s visit special. We understand that you or your child may feel nervous about visiting the dentist. We are sensitive to your needs and want to the offer best care possible. It is our goal to make each and every visit fun, educational and above all a positive experience.

Each child is unique, and we strive to personalize their dental experience. We like to build a rapport with each child and earn their trust early on so they will look forward to returning for regular checkups.

We invite you to stay with your child during the first visit and routine recall appointments. For future visits, if restorative treatment is need, we suggest you allow our staff to accompany your child through their dental appointment.

We can usually engage your child and establish a closer relationship when you are not present. Our goal is to gain your child’s confidence and overcome any nervousness. However, if you prefer to accompany your child, you certainly may do so. For patient safety and privacy, any children not being treated should remain in the waiting room with a supervising adult.

What to Expect...

meet our team members

We strive for on-time appointments, to get them back to their day.

First Visit

We are committed to

exceptional first visits.

We, along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommend you bring your child in by his or her first birthday.

During your first visit, you will be introduced to Dr. Christie and her experienced team, given an office tour and discuss your child’s unique smile and ways to keep it healthy and beautiful.

Depending on the age of your child, he or she will either be given a knee-to-knee examination (where your baby’s head will rest on our doctor’s knee while their body is on your lap) or a regular exam in the doctor’s chair.

We request that you complete our First Visit Forms prior to arriving for your appointment. We strive for on-time appointments and having these forms before your visit is very helpful.

Your initial exam will last approximately 1 hour. Oral hygiene instructions will also be given with suggestions to help your child care for their own teeth. In most cases, we will also clean their teeth on this visit, and provide an evaluation that will outline any existing dental problems and proposed treatment.

Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

Dr. Christie is a pediatric dentist, specializing in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Through extra years of schooling, training, experience, and certification, a pediatric dentist is uniquely qualified to treat the dental needs of infants, children, and adolescents.

Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education.

We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their “cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.

What is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist?

When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist, like Dr. Christie, has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to the delivery of quality patient care.
